Our specialty for over 100 years has been fine Walnut lumber and is available in 4/4" - 16/4" thickness. Quite simply, we are known as the "Walnut People" around the world. In addition, we offer top quality Red Oak and White Oak in 4/4" - 12/4" thickness, specializing in the thicker cuts. Approximately 60% of the lumber we produce is sold for export to various countries around the world.A little history on our company - Hartzell Hardwoods has a proud past and a dynamic future. The company, which was founded in 1875, helped to innovate the process of steaming Walnut to turn its sapwood to the characteristic dark walnut color. Hartzell Hardwoods facilities in Piqua, OH include 25 kilns in operation with 1.2 million board foot kiln capacity, 2 Predryers with 1.7 million board foot capacity and 2 steam boxes with 140MBF capacity. We have two automated lumber handling machines with bin sorters. Surfacing, straight line ripping and width sorting are available upon request.
